That's great you were both motivated to learn each other's language! Often I hear that just one of the couple is learning the other language. But in your case I like the equlibrium. I already knew the language of my partner quite well, so it was clear we would speak his language and not mine.

Hey :) I speak his language, as he lives in his country and me in mine, and I already knew his language before meeting him. He wants to learn my language though in a future.
